Bianca: Fine Italian for A Fraction of the Price

29 May 2007

Fresh pasta and good Italian food does not have to cost an arm and a leg. If you skip the tourist joints on Mulberry street and head to Bianca on Bleecker Street instead, you’ll find a cozy, “granny’s kitchen” atmosphere with friendly staff, excellent food, and really affordable prices. The fresh pasta with frutti de mar is sold here for a mere $11.00 and the best I’ve had since I came back from Italy. Although the pasta dish is a generous side, you can have the Gnocco Fritto (fried puffy dough with imported cold cuts or cheese) or the Spiedino Di Mare (grilled shrimp and calamari on skewers) for apetizers. The tables are small and the place can get crowded so if you are anything like me stop by on Sunday night.

5 Bleecker St New York, NY 10012. Phone: (212) 260-4666
