Don’t expect to find clothing at the Editorialist Sample Sale; save for a small rack consisting of about five pieces, this sale is dedicated to jewelry, shoes, and accessories.

The first two sales are devoted to jewelry, which caps off at $350 for most pieces. There is a large selection of Chloe pieces; bracelets range from $150-$250, and rings are $100. Dannijo takes up half a table, with bracelets for $75-$150, earrings from $50 to $200, and necklaces for $150 to $350.

There is also a selection of $100 Lele Sadoughi chokers, and bracelets for $75 to $150. A gilded Oscar de la Renta headpiece is $150, while nearby earrings and bracelets are $75 to $100.

The shoe selection favors sizes 37 through 39, and mainly consists of heels and sandals. There are Jason Wus for $100, Tabitha Simmons for $150 to $400, and Aquazzaras for $200 to $500. Valentinos are $400 to $500, Alexander Birmans go for $150 to $200, and Pierre Hardys for $350 to $00. Shoes by Sophia Webster or Giuseppe Zanotti are all $300. Those who plan to visit the Issey Miyake sale before 3pm today, prepare to be jockeyed around as you rummage through the racks of micro pleated wares. While the event appears to have plenty of clothes left, touch the wrong silk shirt and another shopper may lunge at you from a few feet away, snapping that they already claimed that piece. While this might seem like a breach of sample sale etiquette, it was excessively common at this particular sale, making shopping the already disorganized clothing even more of a challenge.

But, for the undeterred shopper there awaits a decent selection of pieces by Issey Miyake’s family of brands at 80% off retail. You’ll find that most tops range from $60 to $120, and pants are similarly priced. Dresses start at $80 and cap off around $300. Shoes and handbags are mostly $200 to $300, and scarves and belts are $70 to $80.

This is a one day sale. There will be some restocking throughout the day.

Beads, sequins, razzle dazzle—if this is what you’re looking for in a fancy evening dress, head over to the Badgley Mischka sample sale. With a range of samples, ready-to-wear, and couture, this sale delivers, no matter your budget.

If you are a size four and looking for the best deals, make a beeline to the sample racks. Sample gowns are $100, cocktail dresses are $50, and separates are $25. Among the pieces that had marked prices, nearly every one was a size four, but it is still worth a look for sizes 0-6. Expect a few of these pieces to be in less than pristine condition. I spotted missing beads, snags, loose threads and makeup stains.

The ready-to-wear pieces are all 70% off their original retail price, and appear to be mainly from the S/S 2015 collection. Shirts, originally between $175 and $500, are now between $52.50 for a tweed sleeveless top and $150 for a leather tank. Skirts hover around the $100 mark, with $85.50 for a tweed mini skirt and $115 for a textured beige pencil skirt.

Dresses are the main event at this sale, with short cocktail dresses falling between $50.70 for a coral shift and $132 for a fully sequined back and navy dress. There are two kinds of gowns, normal RTW and Couture. Long RTW gowns range from $69 for a pink sateen dress with a sequined bust, and $208.50 for a minimalist white gown. The couture area is hard to navigate, with most pieces wrapped in bubble wrap and plastic, and most price tags obscured. The staff informed me that most pieces in this area were upwards of $1,000.

The sale runs through Sunday, August 9th.

Have you ever wondered why we don’t host our own sample sales? It is after all our specialty. Well, you can stop wondering now, next week we are bringing you Atelier Coralia Leets Samples Sale at 80% off Retail.  We are very proud of our collaboration and you should absolutely check it out. In the meantime, Greta, our miracle worker intern, has been in touch with Coralia,  who graciously agreed to answer some of our questions.

Coralia Leets

Born in Nicaragua, Coralia Leets moved to Florida when she was sixteen. After pursuing a career in Public Relations and Business Administration, she decided to launch her eponymous jewelry line in 2001. Now sold in Bloomingdale’s, as well as in speciality stores around the world, the line is an embodiment of Leets’ signature “gritty meets pretty” aesthetic. I had the opportunity to ask her a few questions about what inspires her designs.

Greta Jenkins: From your social media accounts, it seems that you gain a lot of inspiration from travel. Is there a location that has particularly inspired you?

Coralia Leets: A place that always has inspired me is perhaps busy street in big cities: London , Istanbul, summers in the Italian Riviera, Paris, and New York City. By watching urban style I am always hunting for great looks, texture, and colors. At the end of the day in my quiet time I like to put together my own interpretation of what is going on in the fashion industry.

GJ: Do any of your pieces remind you of a specific trip or vacation spot?

CL: When I think of minimalist (small , delicate, simple elegant) design I think about France, for sure, and now the same tendency is expanding into our USA market.

GJ: How has your home country of Nicaragua influenced your designs?

CL: I love my country and I was only 16 years old when I left and moved abroad, but every time that I can visit I try to make it fit into my busy schedule. I will say probably my childhood has contributed to what I do today and the passion that I have for design .

GJ: What do you think the next big trend in jewelry will be?

CL: It has been 3 years that the whole fashion industry has changed; we are in the process of catering to the new generation of baby boomers. The next trend in jewelry goes from very minimalist with strong design to an elaborated pieces representing personality, definition, texture and, finally,to set apart each designer with their own look.

Coralia Leets Earrings
Coralia Leets Jewelry

GJ: Where would you like to live if you won a few million dollars?

CL: I will probably like to stay where I am now in life, rather than move to a different place.

GJ: What are your three favorite things to do in New York?

CL: Loved to eat in ethnic restaurant that only Big Cities like NY can offer; have a foot massage while walking the streets after a busy day; and visit the Department Store windows as well as to visit unique upcoming designer shops.

If your underwear drawer needs to be refreshed, head over to the Kiki de Montparnasse sale for over 80% off bras, panties, and assorted lingerie. The showroom staff was very attentive; I was asked whether I knew my bra size and whether I needed help finding styles in that size.

This sale has a larger selection of ready-to-wear. There are a few racks of lounge shorts, which are $30 for the basic cotton pairs, $45 for silk pairs, and $55 for silk and lace shorts. Lounge pants are available for $50. Cashmere leggings were available for $150 in grey, beige, and black, and $50 lace leggings are available in black. Jeans are available for $75.

Jersey crop tops are $30, jersey cotton camisoles are $40, and jersey tees are $45. Silk camisoles are $70, silk and lace camisoles are $75, and silk blouses are $95. Leather bustiers are $250. There is a small selection of maxi dresses available for $250.

The lingerie takes up the entire back of the showroom. Three different bra types are available; bralettes for $40, and underwire and longline bras for $50.

Underwire bras are available in sizes A-DD, with 32 to 36 bands. There were three racks of size A bras, two racks of B, and one rack each of C and D/DD. Within the A cups, a majority of the bras had a 36 band, but there were also a fair number of 34s. It was rare to find a 32A. B cups are also 36-heavy, but 32s make a stronger showing. Bands were more evenly distributed among C cups, with a sleight preference towards 36s. In the small D/DD rack there were lots of 34s, with a decent number of 36s and fewer 32s. There were three racks of bralettes (some of which were long line), which were in mostly small sizes.

The $40 underwear selection also slightly favored small sizes. There were three racks of XS, and two racks each for the rest of the sizes. Near the panties were a few racks of $40 garter belts and $60 body suits. A small display table had $35 blindfolds and $50 thick leather belts.

The sale runs through Sunday, August 1st. Expect markdowns later in the week.

Missed last month’s Theory and Helmut Lang sales? Get severely marked down pieces from both brands this week at their joint sale at Clothingline. While the showroom is dominated by Theory pieces in neutral, office-appropriate colors, the edgier Helmut Lang still has a strong, more colorful presence.

All tops, sweaters, and t-shirts are $50. This is a steal for the top-notch knits and unique tops, but, unfortunately, such finds are rare in a sea of plain T-shirts. Although the T-shirts are well-made, $50 still feels exorbitant for a plain white T.

Theory’s bottom’s section is dominated by classic dress pants, while Helmut Lang provides distressed skinny jeans and health-goth approved leggings. All pants are $50. Neither brand had a robust selects of $55 shorts or $50 skirts.

The $70 dresses were abundant in the Theory section, but they were mostly basic shifts. The Helmut Lang dress selection is even smaller, but the styles are more unique. I did not see any jumpsuits.

Theory’s $90 blazer selection is overflowing. I didn’t spot Theory outwear, but there were a few $155 Helmut Lang coats. There are also tons of $90 sweatshirts spread throughout the floor.

Unfortunately, these low prices come at a cost. Many of the pieces are damaged. They have helpfully marked most of the damaged goods, but even some unmarked pieces are damaged. Don’t let the damaged label deter you, though. Many of the damages are so minor that I had trouble finding them after close examination.

The showroom was not particularly busy; there was no line to get into, nor was there a line of the communal fitting room. The sale ends on Thursday, July 23th.

Vera Wang is nearly synonymous with celebrity weddings, but this week she brings her bridal gowns to the masses at the Soho locations of 260 Sample Sales. The merchandise is divided into three sections: ready-to-wear, samples, and bridal.

Ready-to-Wear items are priced individually, using the following rubric:

The majority of the Ready-to-Wear section consisted of cocktail dresses, most in the $150 to $350 range. The plainer the dress, the less expensive it was. Longer, more formal dresses were $300 to $400. Embellished tops were also abundant, with most styles landing between $100 and $150. Leather shirts are available for $250, and sweaters were around $100 to $150.

There were only two racks of bottoms, which included an assortment of $350 beaded shorts, $100 lace skirts, and $100 patterned pants. There is a full range of sizes, but size 4 and 6 have the widest selection.

A single rack of $20 samples had already been largely picked over, but there are still a handful of dresses in sizes 8 through 12.

The bridal selection was price-as-marked; while I spotted one $500 gown, expect to pay at least $1,000 for the princess dress of your dreams. The most expensive dress is $2,700. A few racks of cherry red, bordeaux, pink, navy and aubergine wedding dresses stand out among the clouds of white tulle. A small communal dressing room is available, but it is hard to imagine more than four wedding gowns squishing in there at a time.

The showroom will be restocked every day. The sale runs through Sunday, July 19th.
