Sadly, it’s over, but the Delman shoes sample sale at the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th b/w 6th and 7th was pretty darn great. I thought since it was the last day they might be sold out of all the best styles, but i thought wrong, as I walked away $160 poorer and with two great new pairs of heels! Every box was marked with a colored dot that coordinated with certain prices ranging from $40 to $227.50. Delman sample shoes were $30, “Nina dolls” shoes were $5, and handbags were $5 (I think they were all gone by the time i got there though.) I was told by the head of the sale that they were changing head designers and this was their “factory sale” to get rid of all the leftovers from the old designer. I can’t wait to see what the new designer comes up with next season!
Here are some of my favorite shoes

I bought these in black for $80

And these in brown for $80 as well

Patent leather colored flats

Pointy toe gray flats

Black patent flats

Lots O’ Shoes!

For great Delman finds head Zappos.com or Delmanshoes.com. You can add yourself to the mailing list there to find out when the next sample sales are!
Until next time,

On lovely Greene street in my absolute favorite (shopping) part of Soho, the Mara Hoffman sample sale is currently being held, in all its colorful, wrap dress glory. I’ve surprisingly never seen Hoffman’s designs before, and was therefore pleasantly surprised to find that her dresses, mainly made of patterned Jersey, are quite delightful. Although not necessarily my personal taste (I’m more of a black pants, white tee, cashmere scarf kinda gal), the colorful dresses, shirts, and bathing suits at the sample sale are certain to please many a Vogue City girl. There are racks and racks of Diane von Furstenberg-esque dresses that range from $25 to $175.
Photobucket
My personal favorite is a gray (of course) Jersey dress with black tree designs on it.
Photobucket
I also enjoyed the cool sandals which are a twist on the popular gladiator/grecian sandal (Wedges: $20, Flats: $40)
Photobucket
There were also some great little pastel, pinstriped jumpers and jackets that caught my eye.

Half the room is entirely devoted to men’s clothes, so bring your boyfriends/husbands/friends!!

May 7-9. Wed, 10am-7pm, Thurs, 8am-7pm, Fri, 8am-2pm

On this lovely Spring day, I convinced my roommate (pictured, with her purchases) to accompany me to the Sigerson Morrison Sample Sale (it didnt take much convincing though), and we took the F train up to west 14th. In the stark white hall of the Metropolitan Pavilion were rows of white tables, covered in shoe size marked boxes. I found a few cute things, but the Belle by Sigerson Morrison shoes I had wanted a few seasons ago, flats with jewel stone things on the toe and rubber pointy toe flats, were nowhere to be found. To clarify, apparently Sigerson Morrison is the higher end line, and Belle by Sigerson Morrison is slightly cheaper. The prices were right, Sigerson shoes for $100,

Booties for $125,

and Boots for $150.

Belle shoes were $70,

booties were $90, and Boots were $125. There were also jewelled and sequined clutches for $50.

I didn’t end up buying anything, but my roomie bought two pairs of flats. I wasn’t that impressed with the sale, and there were also hundreds of shoe crazed gals maniacally hoarding piles of footwear, so if that’s your scene, go for it.

Gold flats by Belle, $70

Let me know what you think!

Who could forget the lovable jelly sandals we all wore in the 90’s? You know what I’m talking about; those strappy things that came in a rainbow of colors that were slightly reminiscent of today’s hot gladiator sandals?
My favorites are by Givenchy $165, Barneys.com. They also come in pink.
Marc Jacobs makes jelly ballet flats that are jelly-licious and come in opaque black, and translucent yellow, pink, and gray $160, Barneys.com

The Kate Spade Maui Jelly flip flops are pretty great too, $60, Bloomingdales.com

And then there are the Marni jellies. Hot pink, translucent, and very ’60’s mod, like what Twiggy might have worn poolside.

$159, Net-A-Porter.com
Confused about what to wear about this daring, retro trend? Try neutral colors such as gray, white, and black. A casual Black T-shirt dress would fit the Marnis perfectly, and the Givenchys would look great with jean shorts and a slouchy white tee, perfect for those hot summer days.

Enjoy!

4/24-2/26

Fashionistas from both sides of the village, all sporting their gladiator sandals and rayban glasses, were fighting over the fabulous boots, heels, and dresses strewn across the chaotic 4th floor Dolce Vita showroom, across the street from the boutique (154 Ludlow). From black faux-croc calf-high boots for $75 (2 for $100), to thick satin cocktail dresses in jewel toned greens and purples, the selection on the first day of the sale was pretty great. My favorite items were a pair of white and gray faux snakeskin pumps for $35 (2 for $50), and a white, tiered lace tank dress with a wide blue velvet ribbon around the waist. Sadly, a recent splurge on foldable Rayban wayfarers and Goldsign skinny jeans had left me with nothing to spend, despite the incredible and tempting deals surrounding me. Check it out before it’s too late! Or check out the gorgeous pieces on the Dolce Vita
website.

Alexander Wang has recently become my absolute FAVORITE young designer. His clothes are edgy, yet entirely wearable by everyone of all ages. His recent Fall collection gave off an “I dress for no one but myself” air, with lots of leather, zippers, and soft, slouchy tees.
The look is very Kirsten Dunst-y thrown together, for those of us who want to look effortless but hot. Besides vintage t-shirts and a pair of worn skinny jeans, there are several other essentials to get this hot rock-chick look. It’s made more modern and feminine with chic touches such as a black blazer with 3/4 length sleeves.
Lightweat wool peplum blazer $198 Bananarepublic.com
A buttery soft brown leather bag gives the look a little more edge.
Foley and Corinna Mid City Tote $444, Bloomingdales.
And some Sigerson Morrison ankle boots, SALE $245 finish off the look quite nicely.

Add a thin gray tee and your old, distressed, skinny jeans, and you are now grunge-chic queen!

Art history inspired pieces ruled the recent Spring 08 runways, from the surrealist-inspired Marc Jacobs backwards heels, to the Picasso-esque Miu Miu dresses featuring images of the Italian Commedia Dell’Arte Harlequin clown. Yet there’s one art-inspired trend for Spring that is incredibly wearable and available to people with all kinds of budgets: Painterly Florals. At Stella McCartney, the flowers were slightly smudged and completely original.

McCartney’s Floral Slip Dress, $1,095 is pricey, but absolutely gorgeous, and is a timeless piece you’ll wear for years.

but Kate Moss for Topshop’s Floral Smock is on sale for $209.

Vera Wang Lavender Label’s Silk Shift Dress, $480, is also a beautiful piece, though it’s a bit more pricey.
These gorgeous dresses are a great alternative to your average little flowered dress for Spring.
Happy Shopping!
