Armani Sample Sale Review 11/14

Typically those employees I introduce myself to, upon my arrival to their sample sale, are extremely gracious and appreciative of the online attention that The Vogue City is about to provide them with – rarely (if ever) is this not the case. The disgruntled host of the Armani Sample Sale was dismissive and combative, assuring me the brand that hired her to conduct the sale Armani Sample Sale Review 11/14did not want, nor need the press. Why wouldn’t anyone want free press? The answer should be quite clear by the end of this review.

The dingy seeming 2nd floor of Soiffer Haskin on 33rd street, played host to the sale, featuring an odd array of items from Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni, Emporio Armani, and Armani Jeans. The open loft featured tattered clothing, scuffed heels, and chipped dinnerware. I even overheard one organizer say “You think this is a mess, you should see our other sales.” How comforting. The set up and seemingly second hand items, made me feel as though I was browsing the Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market, except the price was ten times higher.

Armani Collezioni DressApart from your typical sample sale, Armani featured a wider selection of larger sizes, ranging from 0-16. The racks designated for sizes 10-16 featured mainly Giorgio Armani suits (70% Off), with a few blouses and dresses thrown in. A few diamonds in the roughs were available, here and there (and carefully inspected to assure no rips or tears), such as the pretty Navy Blue & Cream Striped w/ Bow dress by Giorgio Armani, available in sizes 8 and 10 for $623 (orig. $2075), Armani Collezioni’s Jane Vintage Flared Jeans $107 (orig. $355) in light denim, available in all sizes, Silk Studded Button Up in Cream by Giorgio for $389 (orig. $1,295) in Size 4, and a Armani Collezioni’s Collared Floral Calf Length Dress in Oatmeal for $592 (orig. $1,974).

A gaggle of shoes were stacked and lined along a table, many too difficult to reach unless you have long arms like myself, in sizes 5-11. Every nice pair of shoes I picked up, including the $345 (orig. $575) and Navy Blue Velour Pumps $119 (orig. $595) were all scuffed up, seeming as though they’ve been worn andArmani Patent Leather Heels returned. Venturing further down the line of tables, random items were displayed, such as gigantically thick patent leather belts, 60% off Giorgio and Emporio Armani bags (none which are worth mentioning), and place settings priced per piece ($90-$465) that were wrapped in paper (hence the chips).

If you require a moment of comic relief then this is your sale. Unfortunately, there were signs plastered everywhere, screaming “No Photography!” so you’ll have to take my word on this one – don’t waste your time.
