Add a Touch of Red to your Nails

For Valentine’s Day, red nail polish really is a perfect choice. Whether for a manicure, pedicure, or both. Deciding that, isn’t the hard part. It’s deciding upon the shade of red, for there is an endless array to choose from. To the untrained eye, a red is just a red. But to you, the knowledgeable shopper, you know that not all reds are equal. I’ve set to work to review the polishes that I think make the grade when it comes to going red.

First up, Lancôme Paris has the VERNIS MAGNÉTIC – Unfailing Nail Lacquer in Code Red. These nail polishes are a great investment if, like me, you like your nail polish to last a while. This red is vibrant and fresh, and chipping won’t be a problem. I am a big fan of this. Available at Sephora for $15.50.

Speaking of Sephora, their brand of nail polish is very good, itself. The bottles are tiny. But on the upside that means that you can tote these around easily. (I’d be extra careful and put them in a ziplock bag *just in case* because you’d hate for anything to happen and the bottle to break or spill accidentally inside of your purse.) A small bottle is also a great choice if you want to try a red polish, but aren’t sure if you’re a red polish kinda gal. They have Groseille (cherry red), Cerise (berry red) and Passion (bright coral red). The Groseille is what you’ll want if you want a traditional red. Available at Sephora for $4.00.

For an elegant red polish that will apply in a streak-free way, Estee Lauder makes a wonderful color called Bordeaux. I love the cute bottles. Available at Macy’s for $18.00.

I haven’t tried a Calvin Klein nail polish before, but I’m enticed by the idea of their Splendid Color Unstoppable Color Nail Enamel in bombshell. That’s exactly what I want to be when I’m wearing red nail polish – a bombshell. One time I bought this book that I love, ‘The Bombshell Manual of Style’ – and it’s so cute. Anyway. This looks very shiny and RED, and it claims to be a high-impact, flexible, and durable nail color. I’d give it a try. Available at Sephora for $10.00.

Ciao for now,

Jessica
