From Russia, With Nail Polish
, New York, NY

Dark fingernails are in for the fall of 2007. Plum, burgundy, black, dark blue. It makes your skin color pop, especially if you’re light skinned. Maybe that’s the idea behind the theme of OPI’s Russian Collection. It features nail lacquers with names like “Midnight in Moscow” (black), “Russian Navy” (an almost black navy blue), “Catherine the Grape” (dark metallic plum), and “Vodka and Caviar” (a searing crimson). It is a very sophisticated look, and very attractive for fall.
I wonder if many Russian women will be sporting this look? I visited my brother in Russia once when he was there with the Peace Corps (before the Russians kicked the Peace Corps out) and I noticed that all the women wore waaaay too much make up and tended to dress just this side of slutty. Does the “Siberian Nights” black nail polish go with bright red lips and thick blue eyeshadow? What about a chartruese vinyl jacket and mini skirt?
I didn’t think so either 😉
