The Shoebox Warehouse Sale Review 3/2
, New York, NY
There’s not much to recommend Third Avenue in the 30s: no good restaurants, a depressing abundance of dingy-looking apartment complexes, and not a scenic expanse in site. That being said, we must recommend you get down there as quickly as possible to take advantage of The Shoebox’s current Warehouse Sale. It’s that good.
The first thing that greets shoppers is a good sized table chockablock with Frye boots, all for an excellent $199. Styles include both classics (tall and sleek, and short and sherling-lined) and the noveau (sequin-embellished). Below that, a table of designer shoes entices. At $399, there are some solid deals here: gorgeous (if uncomfortably stiff) black leather open-toed Yves St. Laurent stiletto booties, Jimmy Choo stilettos in floral and leopard prints, and to-die-for sky high Alexander McQueen open-toed booties in a buttery soft tan leather.
The first two tables are only the tip of the sale iceberg, however. Along the walls stand a veritable plethora of high-end shoes at rock bottom prices ($50 for shoes, $99 for booties, $139 for boots). A pair of navy suede super-tall L.A.M.B. wedges is $50 from $275. Pour La Victoire red stilettos can’t be comfortable, but who cares when you look this hot (and only dropped a Grant)? For a more demure look, go for a pair of heart-embellished FS/NY flats (originally) $225 – very Marc by Marc Jacobs and would look adorable peeking out from below a wedding dress. Booties are the sale’s best point: we spotted a pair of open-toed tan Elizabeth and James lovelies and a Victorian-chic lace-up DVF number. The vibe here is all sky-high and sexy.
There’s a rack of handbags for $99, but skip them – they all look cheap. Despite the purse fail, the sale is still good enough to recommend a trip to Murray Hill – words we never thought we’d type.
